Final Character Design + Color Choices

As I approached the final character design sheet assignment, this is where things began catching traction. The earlier stages of constructing a character given everything I drew was a slow process. Coming up to this part of the process I had to make a decision, what type of  character can be made and what personality can they possibly possess? This did not take as long as expected as the creation of “The Judge” finally came. This helped align pretty much everything as far as what type of character I wanted and how they carried themselves. I wanted “The Judge" to be a big, muscular baseball-man that comes to earth in pursuit to conquer the planet. With all of the world's best baseball players on earth playing for the state of existence.  With this idea in mind, I ended up designing a muscular being with a baseball for a head  showing front, and back perspectives. I then developed the color variants including the green “alien fusion” form, the tan “classic baseball leather” form (also looks human skin-colored), a yellow variant and the black with red stitch model. These variants allowed me to explore different tones and moods, one more extraterrestrial and the other more grounded and nostalgic. Completing the sheet helped me finalize how the character behaves visually in the world of the game. I chose those variants with the thought of standard baseball or softball (green with red stitching) colors along with concepts of how a yellow or baseball would look, all variants contain red stitching.
